from Seasons project 2009

Summer is a season of excess. Its high temperatures, abundant beauty, and long days lull us into a state of willful submission. A time when we forget our worries as we delight in the paradise before us. Yet it is a transient time, and we, as the seasons, will press on.

Accelerated eutrophication is also a result of excess. Ineffecient and irresponsible agricultural and industrial practices have led to excessive algae growth in our lakes and streams. The overgrowth continues until the body of water is rendered dead,
and the dependent ecosystem has been permanently altered.

Illustrated are both sides of the season of excess. We must see that our only way forward is with purity in our minds and in our methods. Without that commitment, only our season of destruction will press on.
